Processing and storing card data from website orders:

As part of a continuing drive to reduce credit card fraud, card schemes such as Visa, MasterCard etc. have introduced new rules governing the way in which businesses process and store credit card information.

The new rules are known as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) and are mandatory for all businesses that accept payment by card. Ecommerce website owners who also process card payments via CNP (customer not present, such as telephone orders) need to become PCI DSS compliant. Full details of this can be found on the websites of most UK banks or from the card schemes directly.

The Ecommerce software (all 3 packages) is PCI compliant software.
